So yesterday Jesse and I were at the taping of Hell's Kitchen. The experience was underwhelming. We waited for like two hours before the taping started, then we went into the "restaurant" where we waited another hour before we received bread, and we did get our appetizers, but then Gordon Elliot shut the kitchen down. It was interesting, but I don't think I'm cut out for "extras" work. The food that we did get was really good though, so that was nice. Anyways, I was sitting there last night thinking, I could be billing right now, why am I not billing right now, why are these people wasting my time. That's sort of depressing.

On the plus side, Obama's inauguration speech this morning was awesome. I'm feeling inspired. Back to work.

why did they shut down the kitchen? that's annoying. i hope the apps were at least very worthwhile. and as for the "i could be billing right now" mentality...yuck. you deserve an afternoon off every now and again! especially when you work weekends!

Gordon Ramsey! Gordon Elliot is the fat Australian who used to have a talk show and now is producer on a couple Food Network shows.

Jeni, he shut it down for many reasons, including but not limited to the fact that we had to wait an hour for appetizers. The chefs weren't cutting it that night. Lesson learned--if you want to be in a Hell's Kitchen taping...try to go late in the season. By then the chefs will have more practice and experience working in that situation, so there's better chance you'll get fed.
